I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported the young men of Delaware DeMolay, State Master Councilor Chris Ruby and myself as Executive Officer as we struggled through our first year in the rebuilding of our Fraternity in the Jurisdiction of Delaware. It has been a rewarding and memorable experience serving this organization for the past year. We have had our highs and our lows but I feel our State has grown and learned from every step taken along the way. Our future opportunities to further the good of Delaware DeMolay are very clear and dear to all that have knelt at the Altar of DeMolay… “Opportunities still remaining to do good and to be better”.

As your Executive Officer I would like to have two themes for the upcoming year that I hope you and your Chapter will make part of your DeMolay experience in 2012. The first is that of growth. We are so close yet so far from attaining positive growth in our Jurisdiction for 2011. To date we are only 3 new members away from achieving the honor and esteem of having a growing Jurisdiction. So far this year Kent Chapter has initiated 7 new members, Duncan Beard 6, Newport 3 with General Torbert and Jesse Green closing in on the end of the year with none. I challenge all active Delaware DeMolay to make an effort to introduce at least one worthy friend to our Fraternity this year for membership. To the Chapters that have initiated members this year, thank you for your efforts in doing your part in securing the future of Delaware DeMolay and may the New Year bring your Chapter even more growth than in years past.

The second part of my 2012 theme for Delaware DeMolay is Brotherhood. In the Encarta Dictionary it is described as “An organization of men who are united for a common purpose”. Participation in State functions this year, as in previous years, has been very light. Many events were scheduled and monetarily supplemented by the DSADC that were not attended very well once again this year. Please keep in mind that this is your organization and you must participate to get all of what it has to offer. In the past couple of months participation in scheduled events has increased and hopefully will continue to do so in the upcoming year. There is no one Chapter that makes or breaks Delaware DeMolay or decides in what direction this Jurisdiction will head, but rather a collective team of Chapters that can work together and become strong as one entity.

I hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas and wish to all a happy and safe New Year. May this New Year be filled with achievable goals and memories you will cherish for a lifetime. Most importantly always remember... You only get out of DeMolay what you put in to DeMolay.
