My friends and brothers,

On Saturday January 7th, 2012 we lost a very dear and good friend of DeMolay, Chester C. Coffin. Dad Coffin was a member of the order for approximately 87 years and has held just about every position in the chapter. He started as a member of the Evergreen Chapter in Milford, DE which then became the Temple Chapter and then the Milford Chapter. He served as an advisor for a number of years and was very firm on the ritual performed by the chapter. Dad Coffin was also instrumental in helping Dad Coady and I in the formation of the General Torbert Chapter and is also one of the founding advisors. He was a great asset to the advisors due to the fact that he was so strict on how the ritual should be done. I can remember him sitting on the sidelines with his arms folded and his eyes closed listening to the ritual being done, if something was done wrong he would just clear his throat and not say a word. He and I had a long discussion one evening about the ritual and I explained to him that it had changed since he was in and I will never forget what he told me that night, “they are wrong and this is how it is done”. Dad Coffin could still recite the ritual and do a good job of it. We presented Dad Coffin with his 75 year pin a few years back and were in the process of getting him an 85 year certificate. He was a great influence on a lot of the earlier members of the order and they would listen to him with so much intent so that they would not miss a word. He was also a big help to me in the chapter and I will forever be in his debt for that. On Saturday January 14th, 2012 at 1:00pm in Rogers Funeral Home in Milford, DE we will be saying our last goodbyes and Thank you to Dad Coffin. If you as an active or senior DeMolay are available it would be wonderful if you could attend.

* 2012 STATE OFFICER INSTALLATION *

The installation of State Master Councilor Elect DJ Aspinwall and the elected and appointed Officers of the Delaware State Association of DeMolay Chapters for the 2012 term will be held on January 28, 2012 at Temple Lodge #9 in Milford, DE beginning at 2PM.

** ARLINGTON WREATH LAYING CEREMONY February 4th**

Wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetary with New Jerseys' Tyrean Chapter and Capital Building Tour February 4th. The bus will leave Newport for Arlington National Cemetary at 8:30am. Following the wreath laying cerimony will be a tour of the Capital Building at 2:10pm which will take about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. After the Capital Building tour the bus will then depart and head back to Newport where there will be pizza and a lock in for all DeMolay. Cost is $20 for adults for transportation.

** Arlington National Cemetary Wreath Laying with Tyrean Chapter and Capital Building Tour February 4th. Bus leaves Newport at 8:30am.

** Lock In, movie, game night and Prospect Party at Newport Chapter February 4th following the Arlington Wreath Laying trip. Bring a game, movie, a bag of your favorite snack food and a friend to share in this extended day of fun and brotherhood with your fraternal Delaware and New Jersey Brothers.
